Director, Materials
Location: Singapore – Changi
Job Responsibilities:
· Reporting to Vice President, Materials, the position is responsible for regional leadership across all Asia for all division material functions.
· Create and implement a regional supply chain strategy in support of the global program that is synchronized with Flextronics' global procurement strategies. Drive best industry practices within the division and the supporting supply base.
· Implement programs to maintain the lowest possible total system inventory exposure, reducing risk for both Flextronics and the customers.
· Leverage Flextronics' Global Commodity Management organization in support of strategic procurement initiatives. Consolidate input from commodity managers, site materials management, and personal efforts for presentation to the customers.
· Implement programs for cost reduction and lead-time reduction within the supply chain. Measure and report on project status internally, and to the customers. Support Design Services Procurement Manager (DSPM) activities for new programs for specific Global customers. Provide forward pricing projections.
· Develop and implement programs to maximize schedule flexibility, while minimizing inventory exposure and maintaining performance to cost targets. Support Flextronics sites on critical expedites requests.
· Direct customer quotation requirements. Interface with Flextronics' Quotation Group during the quotation process to ensure all cost Bills of Material are competitive, support the defined supply chain strategy, and minimize Flextronics exposure to inventory not in line with quoted pricing.
· Lead purchasing activities associated with site New Product Introduction efforts. Complete line item source awards, new supplier development, and item-master upload databases.
· Maintain compliance with corporate, and facility policies and procedures. Ensure the highest ethical standards are adhered to in the procurement process.
Relevant Experience Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.
· Understanding of supply chain management, the contract electronic manufacturing business and practices, as well as automated and manual procurement systems.
· Minimum 5 years experience in a Contract Manufacturing environment.
· Prefer experience working with large form factor machined steel and aluminum pressure vessels; understanding of vacuum technology; mechanicals; precision machining; or gas turbines.
· Heavy experience in lean supply chain management, planning and regional procurement leadership.
· Experience managing complex and multiple programs, projects, customers, and sites.
· Effective negotiating skills specific to achieving favorable prices and services.
· Ability to influence and successfully lead in a fast-paced, matrix-reporting, multi-cultural environment.
· Fluency in English and Mandarin
· Management of USD several hundred million PLUS a team of 7+ regional staff.
