System Support Engineer

Our client is a leading multinational corporation creating security and enabling technologies as well as interactive applications delivering digital television to multiple end user instruments across multiple networks.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support service and maintain head end broadcast systems and products.
• Maintenance of company and third party software on Linux and Windows based hosts.
• Provide day-to-day support of MPEG 2 video compression systems

Candidate Requirements:

• University graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline,
• Solid practical experience with a strong system maintenance background.
• Able to pick up ideas quickly and be able to see things through to completion with minimum supervision.
• Flexible, self motivated and well organized.
• Understanding of Linux principles and practices including some basic shall scripting
• Knowledge of RedHat Linux system administration including clustering is an advantage.
• Familiar with Oracle databases in a DBA role – preferably Oracle 10g.
• SQL literate
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Knowledge of MPEG/DVB preferred – but not essential
• In-depth networking knowledge with CCNP a plus
• Interest in the pay TV industry is an advantage
• Shift work may be required
• Traveling, often at short notice, locally and overseas is expected.
• Openness to regional travel.
• Fluent in oral and written English and excellent interpersonal skills.
